Whilst having the honour of doing work experience at Bauer Media's Kerrang! magazine last summer, I had the opportunity to write some short news stories from press releases, found below:
IRON MAIDEN’S LATEST REISSUE ALLOWS THE BAND TO LOOK TO THE FUTURE
Iron Maiden are reliving their 1980s glory for the final time through reissues
The complete set of Iron Maiden’s 1980s albums - their first eight - are to be re-released in black vinyl, alongside the 7" corresponding singles from each album. There’s even a collectors box edition available for the really dedicated fans out there.
The limited one-off run of the reissues marks the end of the band’s 1980s catalogue reissues cycle, with Parlophone Records stating that "the band are free to focus on their dynamic future plans" now.
Having completed their tour of 1980s material at Knebworth Park’s Sonisphere Festival in July, it seems as though the band are going to put the past behind them - or at least as far as the 80s are concerned!
The albums will be released in three chronological chunks, with the corresponding singles released alongside them, starting on October 13th with their first three albums: Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number of the Beast. October 27th will see the release of Piece of Mind, Powerslave and Live After Death, followed by Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son on November 24th.
Whilst we’re placing bets on what’s to come next for the band, we can sleep sound in the knowledge that we can contemplate this with the sweet vinyl tunes of Iron Maiden on in the background.

REUBEN FANS SHAPE RACECAR IS RACECAR BACKWARDS’ ANNIVERSARY GLORY
Reuben set to release 2 CD reissue for tenth anniversary of debut album
Reuben fans are in for a treat. The band’s debut album, Racecar is Racecar Backwards, celebrated the big 1-0 on 21st June and you’re all invited to the party in the form of the 2 CD reissue, to be released on 3rd November.
Not only have that, but the fans themselves had a lot of say in what goes into this tenth anniversary celebration. The band recognises that without them they wouldn’t be celebrating this anniversary at all, with lead singer Jamie Lenman claiming "We never thought anyone would give a damn ten years down the line".
Due to fan demand, vinyl lovers won’t be left disappointed, as the album is to also be reissued on white vinyl. There will also be a reprint of their Skeleton t-shirt on sale with the reissue. This design was voted for by fans on Facebook, reflecting the popularity of the three skeletons which graced the album cover all those years ago. Jamie explained "People really latch onto those three skeletons… I still think we missed a trick in not making full sized body-suits to sell at shows!". Perhaps an idea for any future gigs?
The 21 bonus tracks on the second CD consist of demos, live performances and even their Naked interview on XFM. Anniversary bundles are available to pre-order from 9th September.
